About University of Nizwa
The University of Nizwa is a non-profit, public-benefit academic institution in the wilayat of Nizwa in Oman's Ad Dakhiliyah governorate, and the first non-profit university in the Sultanate. It was established under Ministerial Decision No. 1 of 2004 issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and admitted its first intake of roughly 1,200 students on 16 October 2004, the large majority of them Omani women. It comprises the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Economics/Management and Information Systems, Engineering and Architecture, and Health Sciences, offering 66 academic programmes. The university follows a bilingual teaching model, hosts Arabic-language students from American universities, and completed its DARIS research centre in 2010.
