Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a GPA from the 5.0 scale to the 4.0 scale?
There is no single official formula. Dividing by 1.25 is a common approximation but an inaccurate one, because an F is worth 1 point on the 5.0 scale and 0 on the 4.0 scale. The accurate method is to map each grade to its points on the target scale and recompute the credit-weighted average — which is what this calculator does.
Will universities accept this conversion?
This conversion is indicative and intended for personal planning. Only your university or an accredited evaluation body can convert your GPA officially, and they may use their own table.
