About King Faisal University

King Faisal University is a public Saudi university based in Al-Ahsa (Hofuf) in the Eastern Province. It was ordered into existence in 1975 during the reign of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz, after whom it is named, and opened under King Khalid. It began with four colleges — two in Dammam and two in Al-Ahsa — and was known early on for agriculture, food sciences and veterinary medicine; it has since grown to roughly 15 colleges spanning medicine, applied medical sciences, dentistry, engineering, business, computing, education and arts, alongside graduate and distance-learning programmes. Admission to its health colleges requires a weighted score of at least 85%.
