About Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi was founded on 30 May 2006 as the Sorbonne's first campus outside France, opening in temporary premises at Umm Al Nar. It moved to its permanent Al Reem Island campus in December 2009, which was formally inaugurated in February 2011, and took its present name after the 2018 merger of Paris-Sorbonne University and Pierre and Marie Curie University created Sorbonne Université. Programmes are taught in French and English across three schools — Arts and Humanities; Data, Science and Engineering; and Law, Economics and Business — plus a continuing education centre. The campus holds the largest French-literature collection in the Gulf region and student housing for around 500 residents, and the university reports a community of about 1,800 students from 81 nationalities.
