The Ministry of Commerce announced the recall of 769 BAIC BJ40 vehicles, model years 2021-2022, as part of its ongoing monitoring of vehicles offered in the Saudi market and its verification of their compliance with approved specifications. The procedure covers the units included in the specified batch, and their owners must respond to the announcement to check whether their cars are among the list concerned.
The ministry called on the owners of these vehicles to contact the authorized dealer to arrange an appointment to inspect the vehicle and carry out the necessary corrective work, without any financial cost borne by the consumer, as the burden of the remedy falls on the party responsible for supplying the vehicle. It advised owners not to ignore the notice even if no symptoms or observations appear on the vehicle during daily use, because some cases only appear after a precise technical inspection.
The BAIC BJ40 occupies a position in the midsize body-on-frame SUV segment, a category that attracts off-road trip enthusiasts in the Kingdom thanks to its off-road capabilities and its relatively competitive price compared to long-established names. This sector includes well-known competitors in the Saudi market such as Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco and Tank 300, in addition to smaller options such as Suzuki Jimny.
Those wishing to buy a used version of these models should verify the chassis number through official channels to confirm that the recall was carried out if the car is included in it, and request the maintenance record from the dealer.
