Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions we hear most — about buying and owning a car in Saudi Arabia, and about how Beseyat works. For step-by-step regulations, see our guides.
Are the prices on Beseyat official?
Prices are indicative starting prices in SAR and include VAT. They are compiled from manufacturer and authorized-dealer information and can change, so always confirm the final price and any offers with the dealer before you buy.
How is the monthly installment estimated?
We use a flat-rate finance model over the standard tenor to give a "from X /month" figure. Banks quote different rates, fees and down-payment terms, so treat it as an estimate and confirm the real offer with your bank.
Does servicing outside the dealer void my warranty?
Under Saudi consumer rules a manufacturer cannot void your whole warranty simply because you serviced elsewhere; they can decline a claim only for a fault caused by non-genuine parts or improper work. To stay safe, keep receipts and use quality parts. See our warranty guide for detail.
How much does it cost to transfer car ownership?
Ownership transfer for a private car is about 150 SAR through Absher, plus a valid periodic inspection (MVPI, about 115 SAR) and valid insurance. Fees can change — our fuel-prices and guides pages track the current figures.
What is the Beseyat Score?
It is a transparent 0–100 rating we calculate when you compare cars, weighing price, power, efficiency, safety, warranty, space and acceleration across the set. It highlights the best all-round pick by the numbers.
How much will my car be worth in a few years?
Use our depreciation estimator: it projects value after 1, 3 and 5 years using a model tiered by brand, origin and fuel. Toyota and Lexus hold value best; some Chinese brands, EVs and luxury European cars fall faster. It is an estimate — there is no official KSA residual index.
Is a Chinese car a good buy in Saudi Arabia?
Modern Chinese cars offer a lot of equipment for the money and warranties are competitive. The main trade-off has historically been faster depreciation and a thinner used-car market. Weigh the lower purchase price against resale using our depreciation and cost-of-ownership tools.
Is it cheaper to run an electric car here?
On the home charging tariff, yes — charging costs a fraction of petrol per kilometer. Public DC fast charging costs more. Our EV hub and cost-of-ownership calculator let you compare an EV against a petrol rival over five years.
What is comprehensive insurance likely to cost?
As a rough guide, comprehensive cover runs about 2–5% of the car’s value per year, higher for young drivers or luxury cars; third-party is cheaper. Comprehensive is effectively required while a car is financed. Get exact quotes from insurers.
Do I need a periodic inspection (Fahs)?
Yes. Private cars need a valid MVPI (Fahs Dawri) periodic inspection, generally from the car’s fourth year, to renew registration and transfer ownership. It costs about 115 SAR including VAT.
How current is the data on Beseyat?
The catalog is refreshed regularly and each car shows a "data as of" date. Market figures like fuel prices and fees carry the date they were verified. If you spot something out of date, tell us via the contact page.
Does Beseyat sell cars or take commission?
No. Beseyat is an independent information service. We do not sell cars, take dealer commissions or accept paid placements in our rankings — the lists are driven by data.
