The General Motors factory in Egypt celebrated the completion of the official procedures that allow cars manufactured in the United States to enter the Egyptian market, at a ceremony attended by Engineer Khaled Hashim, the Egyptian Minister of Industry. The minister described this step as a strategic achievement that reflects the depth of the economic and trade relations between Cairo and Washington, opening the door to greater diversity in the options available to consumers in the Egyptian market.
On the other hand, this development represents an opportunity to reconsider the dynamics of the Saudi market, as the Kingdom shares with Egypt the import of many of the same American models. Typically, General Motors cars coming from America, such as Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac, compete directly with Japanese and Korean-make brands in the family sedan and SUV categories.
In Saudi Arabia, Toyota, Nissan, and Ford stand out as major competitors.
