General Motors has confirmed that the redesigned 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra will bring back Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The decision reverses a recent direction in which several newer GM models dropped phone mirroring in favour of the company's own built-in Google-based infotainment setup. The trucks also receive new displays, reworked layouts inside the cabin, and a long list of behind-the-scenes changes that GM is expected to detail closer to launch.
The return of phone mirroring is likely to be the change Saudi buyers notice first. Full-size pickups here are used for everything from daily family transport to desert trips and site work, and drivers rely heavily on their phones for navigation, music and messaging apps. A truck that refuses to mirror a phone feels like a step backwards, no matter how polished the built-in system is.
In the Saudi market, the Silverado and Sierra sit at the top of GM's truck range, competing with the Ford F-150, Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra. The Sierra is generally positioned as the more premium of the two GM twins, while the Silverado leans slightly more towards value and workhorse duty. All three rivals already offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, so GM was effectively fighting the segment on this point.
