About Dhofar University
Dhofar University is a private, not-for-profit university in Salalah, in Oman's southern Dhofar Governorate. It was created by Ministerial Decree No. 5/2004 in January 2004 and began teaching that September with roughly 1,500 students. Its colleges are Arts and Applied Sciences, Commerce and Business Administration, Engineering, and Law, together with a Centre for Preparatory Studies, and the university also lists a College of Medicine. In 2019-20 it offered 56 academic programmes — 16 diplomas, 26 bachelor's and 13 master's degrees — with around 5,300 students including the preparatory centre. In December 2018 it became the first private university in Oman to receive national institutional accreditation from the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority.
