About Effat University
Effat University is a private university in Jeddah founded in 1999 as Effat College, the first private women's college in Saudi Arabia. It was established by the children of King Faisal and Queen Effat Al-Thunayyan, with Princess Lolowah Al Faisal directly involved in fundraising, curriculum development and running the institution. It became a full university on 30 January 2009 after four colleges and a Research and Consultancy Institute were in place, and began admitting male students in 2022. Its colleges cover Engineering, Architecture and Design, Business, and Humanities, with programmes ranging from computer engineering and computer science to cinematic arts, translation and psychology.
