About Ahlia University
Ahlia University is a private, not-for-profit university in Manama, Bahrain, created by Cabinet Decision No. 03-1626 of March 2001 as the first privately licensed university in the kingdom. It is owned by a holding company, the Arab Academy for Research and Studies (AARS), whose shareholders include companies and individuals from across the GCC. The university is organised into five colleges — Arts and Science, Business and Finance, Engineering, Information Technology, and Medical and Health Sciences — offering bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, and it is accredited by Bahrain's Higher Education Council and has met BQA requirements. In 2021 it partnered with Huawei to open an ICT Academy and a research centre focused on the Internet of Things.
