Gunther Werks has unveiled a new air-cooled Porsche 911 created together with legendary racer Martin Brundle, and the company says production will be limited to just five examples worldwide. The announcement puts the California-based builder back in the spotlight among collectors who prize analogue 911s over modern turbocharged machinery.
Gunther Werks has made its name by stripping the 911 back to its air-cooled roots and rebuilding it with modern materials, motorsport-grade suspension and a thoroughly reworked flat-six. Pairing that engineering with input from Brundle — a driver Saudi fans know well from his years in Formula One and his long broadcasting career — gives the project a credibility that goes beyond cosmetics. The result is described as seriously powerful, though the company has not yet detailed full specifications.
For Saudi buyers, this sits at the very top of the enthusiast pyramid, well above the standard 911 range and alongside the limited-run creations that tend to move between private collections rather than dealership forecourts. It is the kind of car that competes for garage space with Porsche's own motorsport-derived 911 GT3 RS and GT2 RS, as well as with tuner-built specials from houses such as RUF and Singer Vehicle Design.
Shoppers should keep a few things in mind. With only five cars planned, allocation will almost certainly be by invitation or through established collector relationships rather than a simple order book, so anyone hoping to secure one should start talking to specialist importers early.
