The 2027 Ford F-150 Unlocks Hands-Free Towing Through BlueCruise

The 2027 Ford F-150 offers hands-free driving with a trailer in tow—but there are some limitations.

Ford has announced that the 2027 F-150 will be able to drive hands-free while towing a trailer, extending its BlueCruise driver-assistance system to a job pickup owners have long handled entirely on their own. It is a notable step for the segment, because towing has traditionally been the one task where automakers have been most cautious about letting software take over. Ford, however, is attaching conditions to the feature rather than presenting it as fully autonomous.

The idea is straightforward: on long highway runs with a trailer or caravan hooked up, the system can manage steering, speed and following distance so the driver is not fighting the wheel for hours. Ford has been clear that limitations apply. Buyers should expect the feature to work only on designated, digitally mapped stretches of road, to require the driver to stay alert and ready to take over, and to come with restrictions tied to the trailer being pulled.

In Saudi Arabia, the F-150 sits at the top of the full-size pickup class, competing with the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra. It is the truck many buyers choose for a mix of daily driving, family use and weekend hauling, and it carries a reputation for strong towing capability that rivals have been chipping away at with their own comfort and tech packages.
