Mahindra has slashed pricing on its XUV 3XO in Australia, a move that now positions the small SUV as the cheapest vehicle of its kind on sale there, tying the Chery Tiggo 4 at the bottom of the market. The discount applies to the Indian brand's entry crossover, the smallest model in its SUV range and the one sitting below the larger XUV700 and Scorpio in the lineup.

The Australian result is a useful signal for shoppers elsewhere, because it shows how aggressively Mahindra is willing to use price as a weapon in the compact SUV class. That segment has become one of the most crowded and competitive corners of the global new-car market, and the 3XO's repositioning puts direct pressure on the budget-focused nameplates that dominate it.
