The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation "SABIC" announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with "Ceer", the first Saudi brand dedicated to the manufacturing of electric vehicles. The agreement aims to explore opportunities for collaboration in employing advanced materials and innovative solutions within the stages of design, development, and manufacturing of Ceer cars inside the Kingdom. The signing ceremony took place at SABIC's headquarters in Riyadh, attended by officials from both companies.
This partnership represents a strategic step to support the local electric vehicle industry and enhance Ceer's competitiveness by leveraging SABIC's expertise in producing lightweight, heat-resistant plastic materials, which are critical elements for improving battery efficiency and driving range. It also contributes to reducing production costs and enhancing environmental sustainability, in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
Ceer belongs to the category of emerging brands in the electric vehicle sector, targeting the Saudi and global markets with cars based on the latest technologies. In the local market, it faces competition from established global brands such as Tesla, BYD, and Hyundai, which offer various electric models, in addition to the other national competitor "Ace", which is also seeking to establish its presence.
