Peugeot’s RCZ Vision Is A Slinky Electric Coupe That Only Takes 10 Minutes To Charge

Reimagining of Peugeot’s 2010s RCZ has a solid-state battery, steer-by-wire, and rides on the new Stellantis STLA One platform

Peugeot has dusted off one of its most distinctive nameplates for the electric age. The RCZ Vision is a concept coupe that revives the badge worn by the French brand's curvy two-door sports car in the 2010s, but swaps petrol power for a battery-electric setup built on Stellantis' new STLA One platform. Peugeot says the car uses a solid-state battery and can be topped up in roughly ten minutes, a claim that would put it well ahead of most electric cars on sale today if it reaches showrooms.

The original RCZ was never a volume seller. It was a style-led coupe with a low roofline and a double-bubble rear window, aimed at buyers who wanted something less obvious than a German rival. The Vision keeps that spirit, packaging a sleek two-door silhouette around an electric drivetrain rather than a turbocharged four-cylinder. Steer-by-wire steering, which removes the mechanical link between the wheel and the front axle, is part of the package too, giving designers more freedom over cabin layout and letting engineers tune the car's responses in software.

That said, a ten-minute charge is an ambition rather than a promise shoppers can plan around. It depends on solid-state cells reaching mass production, on chargers capable of delivering enormous power, and on battery temperatures staying in the right window — a real consideration in Saudi summers, where heat management already affects how quickly EVs accept charge. Solid-state chemistry is widely expected to improve energy density and charging speed, but no mainstream brand has yet put it into a car you can buy.
