Chery's iCaur sub-brand will enter Australia with the fully electric V25 as its opening model, with two range-extender SUVs — the larger V27 and an EREV version of the V25 — scheduled to join the line-up afterwards. The first Australian deliveries are tipped for early 2027, according to the plan outlined for the brand's launch there.
The sequence says a lot about how iCaur intends to position itself. Rather than arriving with a full portfolio at once, the brand leads with a battery-electric compact SUV in the boxy, off-road-flavoured mould that has become popular among lifestyle buyers, then widens its appeal with extended-range electric vehicles. An EREV pairs a battery and electric drive with a small petrol engine that acts as a generator, so the car can keep going when charging isn't convenient.
In size and character, the V25 sits in the compact SUV class — the crowded part of the market where buyers want a tall stance and a rugged look without stepping up to a full-size off-roader. The V27, being larger, would move closer to the mid-size family SUV bracket where competition is fiercest on price and equipment.
Saudi shoppers would find familiar company there. Compact electric SUVs from BYD and MG are already established, while boxy small SUVs from Japanese, Korean and Chinese brands compete strongly on value in petrol form. The EREV variants could be the more interesting proposition locally, since they ease range and charging concerns that still shape purchase decisions for many drivers.
