The device is roughly the size of an iPad, and it is designed to run auxiliary equipment such as refrigeration units, hydraulic lifts, and mixers directly off the truck’s battery pack. That makes it a meaningful step for fleets looking to cut both emissions and running costs, since many heavy-duty operations still rely on a secondary diesel engine just to power the tools onboard the chassis.
For a market like Saudi Arabia, where long-haul transport and construction logistics dominate, this development has clear appeal. Power take-off is a crucial feature for work trucks, but electric semi trucks remain a young category in the Kingdom. Windrose’s innovation essentially bolts an advanced ePTO into its battery-electric chassis, giving it a differentiator against conventional diesel tractors and, potentially, against other electric heavy trucks that do not yet offer such an integrated solution.
Likely rivals in the Saudi segment include established global manufacturers with electric heavy-truck programs, as well as the conventional diesel models that still lead the market. Local buyers are used to proven service networks, and Windrose will need to demonstrate that its trucks and the new PTO can withstand harsh desert conditions. The bigger question is not the 70 kW output, but how easily fleets can maintain the system and how well it performs under prolonged summer loads.
Shoppers should watch for practical details before committing. Does the PTO provide enough power for their specific trailers and equipment? How much does it reduce range when running continuously?
