About Kuwait University
Kuwait University is a public institution founded on 8 October 1966 as Kuwait's first national university. It opened with just 418 students and 31 faculty members; its principal campus today is Sabah Al-Salem University City in Shadadiya. It comprises 15 colleges — among them medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, allied health sciences, public health, engineering and petroleum, architecture, law, sharia and Islamic studies, science, arts, social sciences, education and business administration — and awards bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, including 95 graduate programmes. Enrolment reached 44,644 students in the 2024/2025 academic year, taught by 1,696 academic staff.
