About Arab Open University - Kuwait
The Arab Open University is a non-profit university system founded in December 2000 by Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, with Kuwait chosen as its headquarters, located in the Ardiya area. Teaching at the Kuwait branch began in October 2002 as part of the first wave of six branches that also covered Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia; the system later grew to sixteen branches across nine countries. The Kuwait branch comprises the faculties of Business Studies, Computer Studies, Language Studies and General Studies, and uses an open/blended learning model. Its programmes are validated by the UK's Open University and licensed by the General Secretariat of the Private Universities Council in Kuwait, with professional accreditation from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
