About King Abdullah University of Science and Technology
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is a Saudi public research university in Thuwal, on the Red Sea coast north of Jeddah. Classes began on 5 September 2009 and the campus was formally inaugurated on 23 September 2009. It teaches exclusively at graduate level (master's and PhD) in English, and was the first co-educational university in the Kingdom. Its academic work is organised into four divisions: Biological and Environmental Science and Engineering; Biomedical Sciences; Computer, Electrical and Mathematical Science and Engineering; and Physical Science and Engineering. The campus covers roughly 36 million square metres.
