About Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence
Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) sits in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi. Announced in October 2019 and licensed by the UAE Ministry of Education in April 2020, it is the world's first university devoted entirely to AI research and graduate study. Teaching began in January 2021 with an inaugural cohort of 78 students, and the first MSc class graduated in January 2023. Departments span artificial intelligence, computer science, computer vision, machine learning, natural language processing, robotics, and statistics & data science. An inaugural BSc in Artificial Intelligence launched in March 2025, and graduate students receive a full scholarship package covering a monthly stipend, health insurance, and accommodation.
