A video circulating online appears to show a BYD vehicle using its advanced suspension to slip free of a parking boot, and it has quickly become a talking point among car watchers. In the clip, the car raises one corner of its body enough to change the angle of the wheel, allowing the driver to work the clamped tire loose and drive away rather than pay a fine or wait for the boot to be removed.
The technology behind the trick is genuinely clever. BYD's active suspension is engineered to lift and lower individual wheels, which makes roadside tire changes simpler and gives the vehicle extra clearance when the road turns rough. In this case, though, the capability was clearly used for less honest purposes. The system did what it was built to do — it just happened to be pointed at a wheel clamp instead of a jack.
For Saudi shoppers, the episode is a reminder that BYD's lineup now spans far beyond the budget-friendly electric crossovers that first brought the brand here. Advanced suspension tends to appear on the higher trims and premium models, putting those versions in the same conversation as upscale electric SUVs and well-equipped mid-size offerings from established brands such as Toyota, Hyundai, Kia and Tesla, as well as newer Chinese entrants like MG and Geely.
Anyone shopping in that bracket should ask which trims actually include the adjustable suspension, how it is covered under warranty, and what servicing it requires. Air and hydraulic systems add comfort and capability, but they also add complexity and repair cost once the vehicle is out of warranty.
As for the stunt itself, drivers should
