Bugatti has confirmed that its upcoming Tourbillon hypercar was never meant to sound polite. According to the French marque, the car's naturally aspirated V16 — which revs all the way to 9,000 rpm — was deliberately tuned to feel a little more aggressive and unfiltered. Engineers wanted the engine note to carry a hint of dirt and raw character rather than a perfectly manicured, clinical wail. That means the Tourbillon should speak with genuine mechanical attitude, not just synthetic enhancement.
Getting that sound to market, however, was no small feat. Bugatti had to ensure the V16's voice passed strict homologation testing, which governs noise limits in major markets. The challenge was balancing the wild, pure acoustic drama enthusiasts expect with the regulatory requirements that apply to road-legal supercars. It is a fine line between letting the engine roar and keeping it within legal boundaries, and the team appears to have worked hard to preserve the unpolished edge through that approval process.
For Saudi buyers, the Tourbillon represents a fresh chapter in the hypercar segment. It sits above the outgoing Chiron as the brand's new flagship, blending a combustion V16 with hybrid assistance. In the Kingdom, the model will square up against established ultra-exclusive rivals such as Koenigsegg, Pagani and the electric Rimac Nevera — cars that are already familiar names among collectors in Riyadh and Jeddah. Unlike the turbocharged character of the Chiron, the Tourbillon's high-revving, naturally aspirated soundtrack promises a different kind of thrill, closer to old-school motorsport intensity.
Shoppers in Saudi Arabia should pay attention to two things: how the car's noise signature translates in real-world driving, and how the hybrid system balances with that combustion drama. Since these cars are often bought on emotion as much as engineering, the sound will be a deciding factor. Those who value a more polished, effortless experience might prefer the older Chiron or a turbo rival, while buyers seeking an eventful, slightly rowdy drive will find the Tourbillon's philosophy appealing. As always, allocation is tight, so interested collectors should act through authorised channels early.
