Range Rover has finally lifted the lid on its first fully electric model, confirming powertrain details and opening the order books in Australia ahead of first deliveries early in the new year. The electric Range Rover is set to arrive as a 2027 model in some markets, and it pairs two electric motors with a substantial battery pack to deliver a combined output of roughly 405kW and 850Nm. The manufacturer quotes up to 600km of range under the NEDC test cycle, which suggests real-world driving distance will be somewhat lower.
For Saudi buyers, this launch marks a significant milestone in the luxury electric SUV segment. The Electric Range Rover enters a space currently occupied by stylish and powerful alternatives such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, BMW iX, and Audi e-tron, along with more performance-oriented options like the Lotus Eletre. What sets the Range Rover apart, at least on paper, is its heritage of full-size luxury and genuine off-road capability. Most rivals are road-focused first, whereas Range Rover buyers expect wading depth, terrain response and commanding presence—all of which the brand claims to have carried over into its EV.
Saudi shoppers should watch for several things as this model approaches local showrooms. Charging infrastructure is expanding quickly across the Kingdom, but the convenience of owning a large EV still depends heavily on home charging and the availability of fast chargers along intercity routes. Buyers will also want clarity on where the battery pack places the vehicle’s ground clearance and whether the air suspension preserves that signature Range Rover ride comfort.
Another area to monitor is the transition from NEDC figures to the more realistic WLTP or EPA ratings, which will likely appear closer to regional launch. The brand’s local dealer network and after-sales support will also be a key factor, as will the presence of available service centres outside major cities. Given the electric Range Rover’s positioning, it will likely command a premium above the standard petrol and hybrid models, so expectations around pricing and standard equipment should align with that reality.
